Weight Double Standards Thank you, thank you, thank you.
- If you can get in the way of someone loving themselves, you can sell them anything
- Take a look at your insecurities and figure out how to get over them!
- When we make fun of each other for our body types we enforce the standard

Dr. Robyn Silverman Body Image Expert on Tyra Show
I think it’s very important that people understand that weight discrimination (be it towards fat or thin people) is unacceptable. We shouldn’t generalize and judge others based on their appearance. Assuming that because one is really thin or fat, they must be unhealthy and therefore deserve to be mistreated, discriminated against, and ashamed. Healthy or not (it is not for us to assume anyway), bullying and shaming is never justified. We as people should grow an understanding, let go of the anger and see that we are all human beings, we all deserve some respect and to love ourselves.

KILLING US SOFTLY 4
“I think this series is incredibly important. A big part of stopping body hate is to be aware of the manipulations that effect your self-esteem, it is so important to ask yourself questions about why you think the way you think. You may want to believe that the media has no effect on how you feel about yourself, maybe you’re right, but maybe you’re wrong. It’s important to study our surroundings, study ourselves, and learn how to shield ourselves from these negative influences” -Annie

ABOUT THIS PROJECT
The Illusionists is a feature-length documentary about the commodification of the body and the marketing of unattainable beauty around the world.
The film will explore the influence that corporations have on our perceptions of ourselves, showing how mass media, advertising and several industries manipulate people’s insecurities about their bodies for profit.
The preoccupation with physical beauty is as old as time; what is different today is the central role that the pursuit of the perfect body has taken. It has become our new religion. Everyone is affected: boys, girls, women and men from Los Angeles to Tokyo, passing via Mumbai.
Almost 50 years ago, French philosopher Guy Debord wrote The Society of the Spectacle. In the book, he spoke about a consumer society obsessed with and drugged by spectacular images. It was eerily prophetic. The central importance that appearance has taken in our world is at the core of this film.

How to start a diet.
First… love yourself.
Thank you so much to the vlogger for articulating the “If/then” conditional statement so beautifully (3:25). Love yourself before AND after. I am so incredibly happy that this person has come to such a fabulous revelation. Before changing one’s body, one should work to change their MIND; the way they think and feel about themselves.
