Over the years, I have had so many insecurities about the way I look and who I am, but - at the same time - over these years, I have been trying to do small things to build up my esteem and I’m so happy I did and continue to do so.
I’ve been wearing clothes I never even DREAMED I would be wearing, whilst trying to build up to wearing shorts (or maybe even a dress!) without tights.
I dip dyed my hair blue (well, turquoise!) for the first time, after years of wanting to, but feeling too self-conscious to and I feel GREAT! I’m so happy I did it, and I no longer care what people might think about it.
I think one of the biggest steps forward for me was that I decided to no longer feel ashamed in feeling self-conscious at times, because experiences within my life have unfortunately created that, as I think many people if not everybody could relate to. The key point is to not let those thoughts ultimately get me down, and to realise that the more I let myself be comfortable with my appearance and personality, the happier I become regardless of anything else.
And I’ve found that, when I love myself, my confidence with other things follows too.
Not only that, but everybody else notices it and sometimes even become inspired themselves!
Sure! I get scared, nervous and sometimes doubtful when I go forward with helping myself to feel better, but it’s all been worth it so far and so I keep going. And I’m definitely loving myself more and more, finally.
So I encourage everybody to try and take steps to love themselves too. You will feel better for it and, although some people reading this might not believe it right now, you’re worth it! So keep at it!
It’s so nice to see so many people loving and enjoying who they are, x.
(I should also mention that I’ve had some great people along the way who have really helped me. So I understand the value of speaking to and gaining support from others. With that in mind, please drop me a line without hesitation, if you want someone to speak to).
