Hello there,my name is Bárbara (thelobotomy.tumblr.com), I’m 18 years old and in progress to accept and love myself.
Since 10 i’ve been diagnosed with an orthognathic disorder class III, the most severe, it’s inherited  and produces an accentuated facial deformity.
In process to make my facial appearance look “normal” or at least acceptable with non-surgical methods I was introduced to orthopedical appliances. Such as:

My obligation was to use it,as much as it was possible, during my sleep time or even in the school period, nobody ever asked me if i wanted to suffer to look “normal” or not.
I was frequently bullied in the school corridors, the other kids used to call me “freak”,”deformed” and “ugly”.
The physical and emotional pain became pretty evident over the years, therefore I grew up very insecure, with low self- esteem I started to avoid smile,to avoid social situations, photographs and even mirrors.
It took some time for me to realize that never look anyone in the eye or even hide my face under my hair will never help me to deal or accept my “problem”.
For the past months, with help,I have been trying to see myself as beatiful and unique as I’m without the hate i had been living with for the last years.
Girls and boys out there remember,Perfection is just an idea, nobody is perfect and nobody will ever be!
Love yourself first and don’t let anyone convince you that you don’t deserve to be happy with the way you look.
